Cytology Ovulation swab
Cytology

What is Cytology?...
Cytology is a study of cell biology. A swab is taken from the female dog during her season. The cotton swab takes cells from the vaginal wall then examined under the microscope to determine when the female dog will be prime for mating to achieve the best possible chances of conceiving.
When is it best to carry out cytology?...
The best time to do the first cytology swab is when the female dog has been in season for approx. 7 days.

I can study the first swab and then determine when the next swab is required. It is common to swab more than once to monitor the ovulation cycle.
We can discuss when the female dog will be ready for mating depending on how the cells on the swab present themselves.
